Our Orthodontic practice was established in approximately 1975 by Dr. Graeme O’Neil, originally located at 34 MacMahon Street. The practice was then taken over by Dr. Bill Choo in 1980. Dr. Kon joined Dr. Choo in 1998 and eventually took over the surgery following Dr. Choo’s retirement. We relocated in January 2004 to our current residence at 33 MacMahon Street.
Over the years, we have expanded our business to accommodate our patients’ needs. As such, we now have three associates (Dr. Chai Jankulprasut, Dr. Daniel Tan and Dr. Tiffany Huang) working with Dr. Luke Kon to assist in providing flexibility along with exceptional care to our patients.
In our surgery, each orthodontist cares for their specific patients. Orthodontic treatment will be carried out by this Orthodontist and certain procedures by our specially trained Hygienists. All treatment is under the supervision of the Orthodontist and is held to the highest standard of excellence. Periodically, should you require an appointment outside of your Orthodontist’s scheduled clinical hours, one of our other Orthodontists would be happy to provide assistance.
Born in Singapore, Dr. Kon graduated from the University of Dundee, Scotland in 1990. He worked in general practice in the U.K. until 1994. He was Registrar in the Queen Victoria Hospital in East Grinstead, West Sussex from 1995-1997 and completed his Masters in Science (Orthodontics) from Guy’s Hospital University of London and became a fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons (Edinburgh) in 1997. Dr. Kon is a member of the Australian Society of Orthodontists, the Australian Dental Association and is a proud participant in the Give a Smile organization. He is married to Gini and they have 3 children. They moved to Sydney in 1998.
Dr. Chai completed his training as a Doctor of Dental Science (Honours) at the Prince of Songkla University (Thailand) in 1995, and holds a Masters of Dental Science (Orthodontics) from the University of Queensland Dental School (2002). Chai’s orthodontic experience spans over a decade. He was a Clinical Orthodontist at the Oral Health Centre at the University of Western Australia from 2002 to 2005, and has been in specialist practice since returning to Sydney in 2006. As well as bringing considerable dental and orthodontic experience to our team, Chai is also fluent in Thai, Cantonese and English.
Working as a dentist for 8 years, Dr. Tan decided to specialize in Orthodontics and received his Bachelor of Dental Surgery at Sydney University. Dr. Tan is committed to providing exceptional orthodontic care. He is able to put our patients at ease with his personable manner and expertise.
Dr. Huang was awarded double Doctorate degrees from The University of Sydney (2011) as a specialist orthodontist (DClinDent (Ortho)) with additional expertise in orthodontic research (PhD). Her other qualifications include Bachelor of Dentistry from The University of Sydney (2004) and Bachelor of Science(Honours) from The University of Western Australia (1997).
Dr. Huang is an enthusiastic and dedicated orthodontist who aspires to provide the best orthodontic care and creating beautiful smiles. She speaks Mandarin, Hokkien and English.
As our practice manager, Gini provides our team with guidance and support and is the source of much of the creativity of the practice. Dr. Kon and Gini have 3 children, Madeleine (18), Catriona (15) and Sebastian (13).
Working alongside our doctors, Lynn is able to provide our patients with exceptional care in a proficient and friendly fashion. She has over 10 years’ experience in the orthodontic field.
Julie | Certificate III Dental Nursing (Hornsby and Hurstville)
With 10 years’ experience in Orthodontics, Julie has been working with our team for over 4 years. Julie is intuitive, professional, friendly and an asset to both of our practices. With a strong interest in advancing her field of knowledge, Julie is currently continuing her education and will soon be certified in Radiology!
Summer | Certified Nurse, Orthodontic field in China/HK for 3 years (Hurstville)
Originally from Shanghai, Summer is able to lend her experience to our team and as well as providing exceptional care to our patients. In addition, Summer is fluent in English, Shanghainese and Mandarin.

Originally from Vancouver, Canada; Shannon moved to Sydney in 2010. She started working in the field of orthodontics in 2005 following studying Dental Administration at the British Columbia Institute of Technology. Shannon’s knowledge and experience in orthodontic administration keeps our practice and team running smoothly!
